Common questions

I paid for the unlock and now it's gone

It should come back on its own. Your purchase belongs to the Google account that bought it, not to the phone, so signing in with that account and opening Chore Stars restores it automatically.

If it hasn't: open Settings (the gear, then answer the maths question), tap Add child, and choose Already paid? Restore purchase. Make sure the phone is online and signed in to the same Google account you paid with.

I reinstalled and all my children and stickers have gone

Unfortunately they will have. Chore Stars keeps everything on your phone and nowhere else — there are no accounts and no copy on our side, which is exactly why nothing about your family can leak. The trade-off is that uninstalling takes the data with it.

Your purchase is unaffected and comes back as described above.

Reminders aren't arriving
  • Check notifications are allowed: your phone's Settings → Apps → Chore Stars → Notifications. If they are switched off, Chore Stars shows a warning in its own Settings.
  • Reminders can arrive a few minutes late. Android batches alarms to save battery, so treat them as a nudge rather than an alarm clock.
  • Battery-saver and "deep sleep" settings on some phones — Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei and OnePlus are the usual culprits — can delay or block reminders. Allowing Chore Stars to run in the background fixes it.
How do I add another child?

Settings → Add child. The free version covers one child and one reward goal; the one-off unlock lifts both limits for good.

The maths question is too easy or too hard

Settings → Grown-up Lock, and pick Easy, Medium or Hard. It is set per child and suggested from their age, so raise it as they get older and start solving it themselves.

Can my child buy anything by accident?

No. The only purchase sits inside Settings, behind the maths question. Google Play can also ask for a password or fingerprint before any purchase — worth switching on if a child uses the phone.

How do I delete everything?

Settings → Start over erases every child, chore and sticker immediately. Uninstalling does the same. There is nothing to ask us to delete, because we never had it.

I'd like a refund

Refunds are handled by Google, not by us. Within 48 hours of buying you can request one yourself from your Google Play order history. After that, email us and we'll help.

Is my child's information safe?

Yes. Nothing you type into Chore Stars leaves your phone — no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party services. See the privacy policy for the detail.

Will there be an iPhone version?

Not yet. Chore Stars is Android only for now. If enough people ask, that changes — so do ask.
